Canada: Maple Leaf Martini

First on our trip around World Showcase, we visit Canada!

The main alcoholic drink available at this stop is beer, and the mixed drinks available in the restaurant uses somewhat obscure ingredients, so instead I decided to make a drink based off of one of the items most popular in the Canada gift shop, maple (specifically, maple syrup!)

For one Maple Leaf Martini, you will need the following:
  • 1 1/2 oz (1 shot) Spiced Rum
  • 1 oz Maple Syrup (real maple syrup is best, but use what you have!)
  • 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
  • Ginger Ale
To make this drink, mix the rum, syrup, and lemon juice in a shaker with ice.  Add to a glass.  The drink at this stage tastes okay as-is, but is likely a little too sweet (despite the lemon juice added to cut the sweetness a bit).  If this is the case, top the drink with Ginger Ale.

And that's it!

Bottoms up, because tomorrow it's off to the United Kingdom!
